The drug war was not intended to protect the people. In fact, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) recently admitted that racial, ethnic, and class prejudice played a large role in the agency's founding.

Last month, the U.S. Senate was introduced to a marijuana reform bill that seeks to federally legalize marijuana and promote social equity. The first draft, unveiled over a year ago, has been revised into its final version consisting of 296 pages that now incorporate feedback from more than 1,800 comments.

On June 14th, 2022, the AMA, also known as the American Medical Association, announced their approval for a resolution that calls for legislation to expunge cannabis arrests and convictions in states where cannabis is no longer illegal. The decision was made at the Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates in Chicago last week, with the goal to bring fairness and equality in legalizing cannabis.

Harker Heights has now become the fifth city in Texas to add a cannabis reform option to the midterm election ballot, which will be taking place this November. The Harker Heights Initiative, with the goal to decriminalize marajuana possession in Harker Heights, comes from larger efforts of the activist group Ground Game Texas.

Cleveland, Ohio's mayor is officially all talk and all action, as he has filed a motion to expunge over 4,000 marijuana conviction records dating back to 2017. The records are all misdemeanor cases that involve 20 or less grams of marijuana.
