The Tampa City Council approved a proposal that plans to reward businesses that hire ex-offenders. The proposal calls for contractors to "ban the box", which would remove any job application questions inquiring about an applicant's criminal history.

Florida's Governor DeSantis approved HB 195, a bill that allows juveniles to have felony charges expunged from their records, a year after vetoing the measure. The most recent session's version broadens the access minors have to expunging lesser felonies and misdemeanors from their records.

Florida Rep. Dotie Joseph (D) has filed some very ambitious legislation, titled the "Collateral Consequences of Convictions and Decriminalization of Cannabis and All Drugs Act." This bill's ultimate goal is to decriminalize all drugs, though it also contains language that would bring relief to those with existing drug convictions.
